So I went to a JE Karaoke meet-up yesterday with [info]potetofurai and [info]arashifanatic, where we sang tons and took pictures with our JE goods.

And then, OUR PICTURE WAS FEATURED ON FUJI TELEVISION THIS MORNING!!!!!!!! ON Tokudane!!!!! *DIES*

So the story goes that [info]potetofurai and [info]arashifanatic got contacted by one of the staff member of FUJI TV telling them that they were making a report about JE fans in the US! (Apparantly in the wake of Shingo's play in NYC!). He asked them questions and requested picturs. So when we went to Karaoke last night, we took a picture, and sent it to him. AND LO AND BEHOLD, THIS MORNING IT'S UP ON JAPANESE NATIONAL TELEVISION!!!

My friend Yusuke in Osaka told me he saw it too!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe it!!! This is one of the most exciting things that's ever happened to me! (Right along with meeting Akanishi Jin and seeing the Kansai Juniors from a 3-foot distance!!)

I haven't actually seen the segment myself yet, but [info]arashifanatic did and she said that they blew our picture up and quoted her!!!!

I AM SO SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!!!! I hope someone recorded it so I can see it!!

Also, I'm so proud of myself for bringing my Junta uchiwa and holding it in the picture. Now Johnny can see that the Kansai Juniors really do have fans, so he needs to start paying them more attention!!

*continues to run around flailing*

EDIT: Here's the picture that was featured... )

Fuck this Horoscope

"You may be looking to the stars for advice, but the fact of the matter is, what happens now is entirely up to you. Keep an open mind and be yourself -- and go after what (or who) you want."

Astrology is a convenient and lazy way to come to terms with life when you don't want to think about things. Telling me that I have to figure this stuff out on my own is cheating. I need validation, godammit!

Doesn't anyone else call 'em "Bs & Gs?"

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 6:49 PM
In general, I need to be more productive. I have a lot of things that I need to do (and freaking soon, too) but I've had a damn good time over the past two weeks. Gainesville suits me at the moment and I'm happy with the way that things have developed.

Things that have happened:
1. I learned how to make delicious gravy (I have eaten homemade bisicuits and gravy three times in the past week).
2. I volunteered for PIRG and helped generate over 300 signatures for their petition drive -- I really was created for this kind of work.
3. I cleaned the freaking FAThouse, watched it get destroyed again, and learned how to TiVo instead.
4. Jesse and I got drunk and talked about vaginas. (After "The Vagina Monologues," I wanted to hear a guy's take on the organ -- it was not as graphic or disturbing as you might think.)
5. I took the city bus home after dark. (He lives in the ghetto. I had about nine heart attacks over the course of 45 minutes.)
6. I went on my first "real" date and it went really, really well.
7. Kimmy, her boyfriend Adam, Roy ("Lunchtable" Roy!), and Jonathan came over for a dessert buffet of lemon meringue pie, dutch apple cobbler, and my famous flaming banana cheesecake.
8. The FAThouse held its annual Halloween party and I dressed as a 1950s pinup (i.e. I shortened a black slip, put on some red lipstick, and wore heels). As Brandon put it, "James Bond, Scarface, the firefighter, and the Green Lantern all thought you were smokin'!" It's the first time anyone I wasn't dating has ever called me hot.
9. Brandon came down from Jacksonville to hang out, met Jesse and Jonathan, and went home with a huge chunk of lasagna -- I haven't heard from him since!
10. Jonathan started teaching me guitar -- I now know three chords and am really excited about the prospect of being able to play guitar slightly. (Everyone should know how to play at least two songs for campfires and parties, ya know?)

I really do love cooking and baking. I can't spend any more money on groceries until I find a job, however. . . .

I really can't seem to stop smiling. . . . .

I have the latest Kinki Kids clippings for sale HERE at my journal. Prices are as low as .25cents USD and negotiations and trades are considered. I ship world wide from the USA and accept all forms of payments. I also have plenty of feedback so you can shop with confidence! So please take a look!
Does anyone have this magazine please? :)

It's been a while........

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 10:25 PM
Two reasons for this post.

1. Yes, I am still alive.
2. For those who are thinking about Christmas, I have a request. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not get me anything. I am 100% serious. I have no plans to get people things, and I REALLY REALLY REALLY do not want anything. It would make everything so much easier if I didn't get anything. This is also a warning to not expect anything from me. I've never really mentioned this before, but Christmas hasn't been my favorite holiday for a LONG TIME, and since I don't know when I haven't particularly enjoyed it. Thus, I am pleading with my friends that this year we forgo the ritual.

Now to get ready for bed.

Just a copy&paste

Just a copy and paste for my reference from the K8 community.

Yokoyama You no Nikki vol. 209 )

Maybe I'll make this a little daily project of mine -- maybe it'll inspire me to update more!!! I love Yoko's blog, he has a totally childish character but deep down, he really is thoughtful and cares about K8 and the fans maybe more than anyone.

If anyone's reading this -- XD -- feel free to friend me as I'll leave any translation entry unlocked. I like comment lots but I sort of fail at responding unless you ask me a question or something. But I do read them all. <3333

Maybe I'll make this a daily thing...XD

Just a disclaimer then: I'm not Japanese (XD), I like to pretend I'm 100% fluent and play translator. XDD English is my native language however, but unfortunately it was always my worst subject in school so please forgive any grammar/spelling mistakes. XD

Street Computing, Steepster & FIZZCODE

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 5:51 PM
A couple of days ago there was an article on Japan Probe about "street computing". People have called it out as staged and I'm sure most of us think so too. I know I did, until I saw a man walking around a wonton noodle stall with his MacBook on his arm yesterday. Granted, it was only from his table to the counter but it immediately reminded me of this news report. xD

I've just discovered Steepster (I'm Aduial over there), a community for tea fans to log their tasting adventures! I think it's a great site for both newbies and connoisseurs alike to discover new teas and read about what other people think of them. I'm having fun so far, though I wonder how meticulous I'll be in logging everything I sample. It's a pity we don't have more tea companies in Singapore -- I only know of TWG and T2. There are some interesting blends at Lupicia I'd love to try, but they don't seem to ship internationally. ;_____;

FIZZCODE is probably my favourite Germany x Prussia doujinka out there. Not only do I love her art and especially the way she draws Gilbert, her stories, peppered with dancing Gypsies prickling spikes of domestic conflict (we're talking about Ludwig and Gilbert after all), a sprinkle of possessiveness here and a dash of angst there, make me a very happy fangirl. So happy I can overlook how Japanese these German boys are behaving. ♥

[Req] More hairstyling mags!

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 5:18 PM
Love all the contributions and all, but I noticed there aren't many hair magazines here. Does anyone read Hair Mode, Uresta, and so on?

Request!

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 4:00 PM
Requesting this!

I don't even know the name of this magazine/book, but I saw it somewhere on the web, and it looks gorgeous!

Thanks!

[Dec 2009] Ranzuki, Steady & Error

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 1:42 PM
[info]renge64 has kindly reported an error after downloading Nail Venus (Winter 2009) from the last post.

I would like to ask whether other users (who have downloaded the file) also experienced problems with extracting the scans?
Please ensure that you're using the latest version of WinRAR to extract.
